Our origins: Maashof and Larein Alpe

Connection & love for nature and animals

The Maashof and its animals are based in Mathon. The village is only about 5 km from Ischgl and offers peace and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle. The welfare of animals is our greatest asset. With plenty of free space and species-appropriate husbandry, we offer the animals a fulfilled life on the farm. We are particularly proud of our Wagyu cattle, which originate in the Kobe region of Japan. The meat of these cattle is considered the most exclusive in the world.

In summer, the animals come to the alpine pasture, graze there on fresh meadows and enjoy sunshine & wild herbs on our Larein Alpe, where we also produce our own cheese and many other products. The great care & passion with which we keep our animals is reflected in our products. In this way, we can remain true to our high product standards. Exclusively for our hotel guests. Modern design & traditional Tyrolean lifestyle are fused in our hotel restaurant Alpin. Natural materials such as wood and stone give the Alpin an unmistakable alpine flair and create an incomparable atmosphere of cosiness.

Gourmets can expect luxurious indulgence in a stylish ambience every day, as the Alpin also bears the signature of our toque chef Gunther Döberl. With our four-course dinner menu with choice we would like to inspire you every day anew. Let us surprise you. Of course, we also offer delicious vegetarian dishes. Our menu is rounded off with an extensive salad and cheese buffet.

In the Wiartshaus you can enjoy classic-traditional Tyrolean cuisine in all its facets. The furnishings of the Wiartshaus also reflect the rugged yet detailed Tyrolean culture. Experience on every single plate what tradition and home mean to us and feel the harmonious interplay of fresh products from our own farm and the surrounding regions, our dedication to hearty Tyrolean inn culture and our deep connection to our homeland. The Wiartshaus is only open in winter. You can reserve a table daily from 6 to 6:30 PM.

In our gourmet restaurant STIAR we celebrate indulgence and do so anew every day, as our head chef Gunther Döberl succeeds with wonderful ease in placing traditional Tyrolean regional cuisine in unexpected contexts and reinterpreting it. It is no coincidence that our restaurant was awarded 4 toques, 17.5 points, by Gault & Millau.

Clean lines, cooking according to the changing of the seasons, traditional techniques such as fermenting and preserving and products from our homeland are what make the dishes at STIAR so appealing.
